Been listening and they're playing strictly the hits their Hispanic core listens to. In contrast, KKBT is running a Frankie Beverly and Maze ticket weekend.

Like we said one has a 40% pool to draw from, the other just 7.75%.

It's obvious that Hot 92 is following that classic rule. Find a hole and fill it. The hole that the Beat is trying to fill is much smaller. However that doesn't mean that you can't make money doing it. You just have to have a very motivated sales staff.

But one has to wonder how Radio One is doing as a whole? Mary Catherine Sneed left the company recently and the budget cuts here in LA raise even more questions...

RO is not doing well. In cities where they compete, the competitor is beating them, most likely with Steve Harvey on the UACs and a better Hip Hop show on the Hip Hop station. Incidently their Black Gospel stations do well, but Gospel's a cluster format, not a company saver.

If you really wanna know Urban Insite has a vent forum and a lotta people post their thoughts on RO and it ain't good!
