Hot is Hot

Agency rep w access to PPM weeklies reports Hot beat FLZ in two key demos already barely three weeks on the air! CC Tampa is scrambling.
Artie

FLZ added more music to MJ's show and chopped off the 9 AM hour to play music. They've also added another hour to their commercial-free blocks (now three times a day) and are giving away $200 prizes, in addition to the $10,000 money-for-commercials deal. This is getting interesting...

It's all true. Just had a friend of mine mention to me that she heard the show was making "changes" and that she didn't like it. She's near age 40 and likes his show the way it is. I guess Hot has a point when it comes to the MJ bashing. But when it comes down to it... Hot has been and continues to play more music. ...getting interesting indeed!

The two signals are similar.

But Hot is not playing commercials.

This is a yawner until they start trying to make money - the real key to success.

They've been playing spots for two weeks bro. Added Midday and Afternoon personalities too

By the way .... HI :)

I saw Numbers from Aug, not the commercial free July...and they were rippin the P1's from their core...Women 18-34

The signals are identical. Both 100kw from the same Master FM antenna on the ATC tower in Riverview. Same power, same antenna.

mussamisstit... ??? :-[

Their spot load must not be much.

I guess they were speeding those songs faster than I thought.

I figured they would wait until Labor Day Tuesday to formally put the format in place.

Maybe the war chest isn't as full as we were led to believe. :-\

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

P.S. will miss you on the bpg.

Both signals are on the same tower. However WPOI has a null to the North. Slightly enhancing its signal to the Northern Portions of the Coverage Area.

Live in Citrus County and I can scan to WPOI and WWRM in the car. WFLZ, WMTX and Clear Channels stations are so weak it won't scan to them.

I am the site manager for the American Tower in Riverview, trust me, WMNF, WFLZ, WWRM and WPOI all use the same antenna, not just the same tower, but the SAME ANTENNA, no station has a null to the north. All except WMNF are 100kw. 100.7 and 103.5 will be moving to that antenna as soon as some FAA Intermod issues are worked out. Once that happens, four of the six stations will be 100kw. 103.5 will be 68kw and 88.5 is 6.6kw.

Explains why I've had trouble seeing any signal difference with 103.5.

Thank you,

Since WMNF is so much lower powered, are there any issues when dealing with the difference of powers in the combiner?

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

No problem dealing with the different power levels. WMNF does have a lower power combiner module, so they are last in line on the combiner, farthest away from the antenna. That is so all of the power from the higher powered stations does not have to go through their combiner.

Fine, some things were cleared with the American Tower in Riverview. However it still doesn't explain the slightly (less static) signal I get from WWRM and WPOI. I live right on the fringes of the coverage area for all the stations from the Riverview Tower. Meaning my signal more or less is 50dBu. If I'm lucky I might be able to get those stations in stereo on certain days.

Wow, US 103-5 is taking a great deduction in power. Wonder how much coverage area will be lost.

They're also gaining 200 feet-- I doubt much at all.
