HOT???

What's so special and innovative about HOT?

Sounds like a cheap version of Power 106, Hot 97.7 Los Angeles and New York.

79Q/93Q had more soul to it

Kilt in the 60s/70s was very good.

I heard a jock on the other night. Very weak. They better show me more stuff because when the newness wears off HOT will have a 2 share.

Imaging is just average.

Jeff stick to Howdy Country. You're much more effective hotlining Rowdy. :D Your chr days are over Pal ;D

C'mon, you can't compare Hot to 79Q and KILT. For many years in most major markets there was one dominant Top 40 station like KILT which typically had 30-50% of the 12-34 demo M&F and 10-35% of the 24-49 group to boot. There were no FMs nor a dozen move-ins to compete against (not to mention satellite, internet, iPods) and you didn't have the targeted formats of today to worry about. When 79Q launched, Houston was without a Top 40 station and instantly became a success even on AM because of the pent up demand...they could have put on anything.

Hot is on target...I think the imaging is top notch as there is a lot going on in those 5-10 second promos/bridges. It's nice to see some competitiveness back in the market...it forces everyone to be more creative and better!

"They could put anything on 79Q and it would have won."

Not quite. Yes 79Q was the only CHR but its personalities, contest, music was exciting as hell to listen to. As a matter of fact 79Q still had decent ratings while 93Q and KRBE were CHR in the early 80s.
