Don Kelly is bringing back Hot 977 San Jose to SF. Freestyle is back baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look for it on a big signal in March '07

GUARANTEED.

OK so my production load was light today...here's what some searchin turned-up:

http://myspace.com/hot977

Using DRS radio-automation software and (occasional) bits n'pieces of the original KHQT voice-package. Clever. Some ok tunes, but not exactly the feel of the original.

As nice as that would be, the Laffer does of course talk out of his arse a good part of the time on these boards.

;D

Well!

It sounds good! So this is what it used to be? How come there's still a website and everything?

...or is this for real? I s Hot 97-7 really back on the air? I 'm not there so I don't know if this is a joke or not.

you guys are on crack rock- hot 977 the web radio is TERRIBLE -- worse than even 94.9 and thats hard to accomplish - they are an embarrassement to the original - steve smith is turning in his bed of money as we speak! please please please - get some ears and take a listen to something before you promote it - they have the Weakest jocks, weakest mixers, terrible music selection (record label priorities obvioulsy go straight to the top of their list) BOOOOO --- wake up people!

I still don't get it.

Are they going to put this station back on a frequency or is it just on the web. And if it's on the web only why do they specify a frequency in their name and why do they state a somewhat legal I.D. of San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose instead of leaving it open for for every market? And why do they say San Francisco when the 97.7 frequency doesn't even reach SF? Why isn't this stream more known and why does someone work so hard to make it sound like a real radio station when it's not. I'm so confused...

Please help.

What a can of worms! To clarify, I merely stumbled upon the Hot977 website, when doing some "searching" for answers to the original post. I doubt the website has anything to do with the station past, present or future. GTB, it's nothing more than a website

I'm not sure if Laffer was just trying to generate some action in here, or if he legitimately knows something. In his original post he refers to Don Kelly (a long-time East Coast programmer, I believe), but he doesn't follow-up on it. ???

In the early 90's I was involved with KHQT, so naturally, I was curious about the possibility of it's "return". There has been speculation, what with all the buying/selling/etc, that KFOG would sell-off the 97.7 signal... again, that may or may not have anything to do with anything.

Whether it does or doesn't have basis in reality, there'll be no loss of sleep here. I have to admit, though, that the speculation sure got a few of us to stand-up and pay attention!

I WISH but too good to be true, this Hot 97.7 is internet only radio which has been streaming online for about 8 months now, mabye more. Why they ID as SF, OAK, SJ? Not sure. Why they include a dial position on their brand if it's interet only, again not sure. I belive the morning show is some guy out of Chicago, and the station itself is being programed out of Pacifica. They are very local with sweepers reading "THE EAST BAY'S STATION, NORTH BAY'S STATION, etc. No mention of San Jose or Southbay though. I'm sure this will never be anything more than what it is, but when the real Hot comes back I'm celebrating!
