Hotel Cable Report - Best Western - Dunmore, PA

I had a recent stay at the Best Western (formerly Holiday Inn) on Tigue Street in Dunmore, PA. It's adjacent to exit 1, from the western terminus of I-84 West/I-380 North, near the junction of I-81 and US Route 6. Anyways, it was a place with the dreaded LodgeNet service and the 4 ESPN stations. I still can not figure that one out to this day.

2- WYOU-TV (CBS) channel 22 Scranton
3- The Weather Channel (National)
4- WVIA-TV (PBS) channel 44 Scranton
5- WOLF-TV (FOX) channel 56 Scranton
6- WNEP-TV (ABC) channel 16 Scranton
7- TBS
8- WBRE-TV (NBC) channel 28 Wilkes-Barre
9- ESPN
10- TNT
11- HBO
12- (blank)
13- CNN
14- (blank)
15- Discovery Channel
16- TLC
17- USA
18- HLN
19- (blank) *
20- Cartoon Network
21- CNBC
22- HBO Signature
23- Hotel Information
24- (blank)
25- ESPN 2
26- ESPN News
27- ESPN Classic
28- Fox News Channel

* Cable channel 19 was blank, but the old channel caption said "WB". Perhaps this was supposed to be WSWB-TV channel 38 of Scranton? Also, there was no WQPX-TV (ION) channel 64 on this lineup either. The same goes for the low-power WYLN-TV station.

On a separate note, I noticed there was no news at 5 PM on Friday for WYOU-TV (CBS) channel 22. WBRE-TV (NBC) channel 28 uses the Eyewitness News name. I noticed that, although they're not owned by NBC, they used some of the same graphics as WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 of New Britain/Hartford does here.

WYOU has no news. It cut it a couple years ago (note: WBRE puppet controls WYOU) and saved $1 million a year. Now the GM says he regrets the decision. You think...?

not too different from the lineup when we went to visit some relatives at
Marywood College in the early 1980's.
