Hotel "Cable" Report: Flamingo Resort, Las Vegas, NV

I'm staying at this somewhat fancy resort in Vegas because my mom is giving a paper here. The TV here is a Philips 42" Plasma, along with a TV in the bathroom within the mirror. The lineup is not too bad. Here it is:

- CNN
- KSNV-3 (NBC)
- ESPN
- KVVU-5 (Fox)
- KVCW-33 (CW)
- TBS
- KLAS-8 (CBS)
- KBLR-39 (TMD)
- KLVX-10 (PBS)
- WGN America
- KVMY-21 (MNTV)
- KTNV-13 (ABC)
- KINC-15 (UNI)
- CNBC
- TNT
- USA
- E-Guide Channel Listing
- Convention Information
- ESPN2
- HLN
- The Weather Channel
- Discovery
- Nickelodeon
- Fox News
- Guest Room Telephone
- Harrah's Dining
- Harrah's Entertainment
- Vegas Player TV
- SPTV
- Hotel Info
- 702 Scene
- ETTV China
- ETTV China
- PPV Previews

And in my room they also have a bunch of Music Choice channels, but I'm not going to list them. And they have quite a few HD selections:

- Travel HD
- ESPN2 HD
- Universal HD
- KSNV HD (NBC)
- ESPN HD
- KVVU HD (Fox)
- TNT HD
- HD Theater
- KLAS HD (CBS)
- KLVX HD (PBS)
- Palladia
- KTNV HD (ABC)
- PPV Previews HD (don't know why this is on here)

Overall, it's a pretty good lineup. Pretty much all the locals. I'm not sure if the CW and MNTV affiliates here in Vegas even have HD feeds.

The majority of the Strip hotels are served by Cox's VisitorVision. Its a seperate channel line-up from their Vegas systems, and the commercial time as sold by Cox Media, is sold seperately from their other Vegas systems. Its an interesting idea in an area with 65k hotel rooms potentially watch your commercials- visitors get to see more commercials targeting their interests, while locals don't have to be bombarded strictly with commercials that target visitors.

You get to go to Vegas and you're watching TV? ;D

Anyone who has ever had to make the horrible Sunday, hungover, hopefully 4, but more likely 6 hour drive back to Los Angeles knows that a little TV doesn't hurt for good measure...

I know the feeling. I always drive when I go there. It's about 5 hours from Phoenix - maybe a little less with the new US93 Hoover Dam bypass now open.

Regardless of where I go, the first thing I do once I get to my hotel room is turn on the TV and see what's on.

Agreed. I turn TV on while unpacking, getting ready to go out, before going to sleep, etc. Also the Hoover Dam bypass bridge is incredible.
