Hotel California on KTU...???

I know it's their no repeat work day but have they run out of dance songs?
3:32pm WKTU is playing Hotel California.
Now what part of their definition of "dance" does this song fall under?

Now they're playing Margheritaville!
They're flashing back to the 70's evidentely until 4pm.
Wouldn't Motown gold be more appropriate for a dance station?
Are they trying to pick up CBS's listeners?????

KTU is more confused than usual!

Did anyone think the rumor is true about them going oldies? I don't think they are confused, they are most likely starting to implement the oldies and drift away from the new music which i would like to see. Even though i am a KTU/Oldies fan, if they were to go oldies i would applaud the move.

It simply isn't going oldies! KTU bills way too well.

Please give it up.

Don't be TOO SURE Mr. Information!!
;-)

Thanks Jeff for your post. I can't believe KTU played the Eagles. KTU should stick with their bread-n-butter. Just wait it out. I can't see WNEW-FM sticking with their current format. Play the wait games. NEW should say "UNCLE" in the next few months. After they cave in KTU will be back at 4.5 (12+).

are you sure? wasnt it some weird remix or a remake of a horrible song? thats the trend of late, take these 70's dino rock songs and re work them as pseudo freestyle or techno. Are you saying you heard DOn Heley and company with only the original beat provided by DON HENLEY?...........

Wow someone has some explaining to do

I am very sure...it was followed by Margheritaville.
It was unbelievable.

I think it may be a special flash back of the 70's that they were airing but those two songs were not dance oriented.
check out Yes.net.
I'll be listening from 3-4 pm tomorrow to see if they do something similar.

This sounds like it could be the saving grace for JACK>>>

Will KTU E V E R get it? Their website should be ratingsbydefault.com.

I agree that it bills well. But if they think they are funny screwing with the format, 102.7 will strangle them. I I ran 102.7 I would be heckling them every hour.
Example: Announcer: KTU has lost its direction. They are playing (quick cut to the Eagles then Buffett snipet) but at Mix 102.7 you will hear NY's Classic Dance Mix, Mix 102.7.

They also played "Take Me Home Tonight" by Eddie Money a few days ago, another song that was a surprise.

Maybe it was a YNY flashback...

Re: I heard a COUNTRY song on KTU this afternoon!!!!!

If anyone remembers, this was an overplayed song on CBSFM in the last 6-8 months of the station as oldies. Plus many oldies stations play this song now constantly too.

Maybe an old WAPP cartridge got played by mistake ;-)

Re: I heard a COUNTRY song on KTU this afternoon!!!!!

On Monday I heard Bill Lee announce a new feature called "Back In The Day" - he said they were going to feature a different year every day at 3pm. Monday was 1986. Missed Tuesday, but that sounds like 77-78.

Dont think they are going oldies or country - this morning I heard three new songs in one hour.

Listen with all due respect to Senior Info, if they were going to flip it THEY WOULD JUST FLIP IT. They would not spike in songs that clearly dont belong a la oldies jams right next to Amber or whatever other quasi freestyle, alisha-esque fare. They would just pull the dance plug and start sweating to the oldies. Then again that would be the logical move, and if they actually did spike in Hoetl Cali obviously logic isnt on the menu these days!

LOL

File this under weird stunting. Thing is that stunting only really seems to be noticed by the radio dorks like us, the public at large seems to just sort of go with the flow, unless they played Rotting Christ or some other death metal jam to jar the cujines out of their mozzerella induced comas, thus crasing their Iroc's into the cars in front of them on the BQE.........lol,.....come on now, THAT's funny!.

PS Buffet "Margharitaville" no easta "country" senor.
Edited by NotoriousN-I-K on 01/18/06 07:30 PM.

Maybe they played the LIVE version which has a nice romantic guitar in it, but that's even stretching it. Who knows...like i said is Dean James programming it?
He played ELVIS on the dance station in DFW last year. HaHaHaHa

Lead, follow or get out of the way...

And remember, the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
