Interstate 19 between Nogales and Tucson got caught in the middle of this "voluntary" conversion. A lot of their signs are still in metric (km/m). Unfortunately Arizona decided a while ago that any signs that needed replacement would not be replaced with metric signage.

I prefer weight measured in the American system. But liquids and distance is much easier to understand in the metric system. 500 meters is half a kilometer (duh...kilo means "1000"). I'm not sure how many feet there are in half a mile.
2640. The only reason I remember that is because in high school we had to run a mile and a half once a month. Three times around the quarter mile track. I was real slow, my best time was about 13 minutes.
