Houston Channel 57-- KAZH Any word yet on new programming?

Re: Houston Channel 57-- KAZH RTN possible?

RTN is supposed to be going "national" on July 7, which is close tojust after the end of the Azteca affiliation for Channel 57 at the end of June. so it would make sense for Channel 57 to go with the RTN... we will see. I am surprised that Channel 57 hasn't put out any publicity about what shows they will be carrying after dropping Azteca..they are probably still working out the details.

RTN's press release is here about "going national" but no mention about Houston there.

Re: Houston Channel 57-- KAZH as Spanish Independent... what about 51 with RTN?

Ok, I read the press release, and also you can read an article in the Houston Business Journal about Channel 57
and the new Spanish Independent programming.

Such a press release is not effective publicity though.
Maybe Channel 57 should at least try to get a listing in the Houston Chronicle's TV listings, though, they are the only full power TV station that does not get listed by the Chron.

Maybe Channel 51 KNWS would be a good match for the Retro TV Network. I see from the net that Channel 11 in Buffalo, NY combines the RTN with Yankees baseball, so why not retro TV and Astros baseball for Channel 51... unless infomercials really make more money than actual programming.

KAZH is probably taking a cue from the relative success of Spanish language indie KZJL/61, which has done reasonably well with its lineup of syndicated/rerun/movies/locally produced fare. Much of it is rather lowbrow, but (for better or worse) it appears to resonate with the target audience. They regularly kicked Azteca's butt, and are often ahead of Telemundo and Telefutura.

BTW, KVIT/30, the new home of Azteca America after July 1, is still testing with color bars from time to time. Poorest signal of all the Houston LP's at my northwest Harris County location. They'll be okay south of I-10 and west of I-45, but a non-factor elsewhere. And no cable coverage, unlike KAZH.
