Houston channels seem to be weaker...?

I'm 86 miles from the Transmitter as the crow flies, but I use to could recieve the 9 stations like a local out of my truck radio or my walkman, now they are having a hard time pulling in. I gues its becuase of the digital signal as well? I know with my outdoor antenna down there about 20' up can pull in the HD signal. but the stations just seem to be weaker than they use to be with the old antenna up. I had this post over at the Texas board, but figured maybe the local techs could read this also, hopefully could solve the problem.

J,

I travel to Louisiana alot from Houston and haven't noticed any difference in the reception to the east. They still crap out when I get into Beaumont, as they always did before. The HD on the Senior Road stations reliably reaches to the Jefferson/Chambers county line on I-10.

It most likely has to do with weather. I was able to get 4 Houston stations last night perfect over here on the NW side of San Antonio, nearby the pirate 101.5. Got at least 2 this morning.

Are you possibly becoming a "believer"? I am noticing more dropouts and picket fencing on every Dallas station that is HD - the ones that are still analog are unchanged.

I now think your right, I think HD is going to kill dx'n, I know last weekend when KHJZ was on HD, My tuner would always stop on it when they were analog. Now that they are HD, it skiped right over it. That never happened. I know now even 93Q is weaker. Even the stations up here in Austin that are HD those are really the ones I am having trouble bringing in on the backside of my antennna!

The real shocker to me was 107.5 in Houston. They lost 60 miles up to the North! And picket fence like crazy as close in as Cypress and Conroe.
