Houston-Galveston Arbitron Ratings: May 2011

I hope KHPT keeps inching up... it feels like they might have screwed up by easing into the new format instead of going whole-hog.

Geez... CBS highest rated station is #9...?!?!

How long is Cumulus going to tolerate the poor performance of the two rimshot signals? I can see them hanging on to ESPN on 97.5, but the KHJK numbers are beyond awful. Might be in their best interest to offer it up for an LMA, unless someone has a fresh idea of a format that could get some attention.

Actually, it appears that KHJK has some ok Cume, but the ATE must be terrible because the AQH is awful. My guess is people keep sampling it, but don't really care what they hear.

With refrence to moving KHJK and KFNC. Is it better off to be a bottom feeder station in a large market, or a middle of the pack station in a small rated market?? KHJK's cume is more than the entire BMT measured market size.

Considering KUHA just signed on as a Clasical station in the middle of May, don't you think you ought to cut them a little slack this time around? Maybe give them at least one book?

I don't live in the market, but I have to say I'm not surprised with the high ratings for KSBJ. I found this station on one of my trips to Houston a while back. While I'm not a regular listener to Christian radio, I find the programming to be pleasant and uplifting without "beating the listener over the head".

Stan really got my blood flowing with his scenario of KILT AM/FM combo all news. Can you imagine hearing Jim Carola and Robert B. McIntyre back on with that dramatic news delivery? I admit I'm almost obessed with KILT. From the time I was a kid thru school and college, they were the only constant in my life. My parents divorced but KILT was always there. I got into radio, okay it was Armed Forces Radio, but it was radio because of KILT. When I came home for the last time, I was almost sick at what KILT had become...a wimpy ass, do nothing, no news, just talking about last night's TV shows, i.e., plain vanilla white noise. No more ass rippin editorials, no more seeing the KILT Crew at my church's fall bazaar, no more great contests...nothing. I've stressed over this before and others on this board have told me the downfall started with Laura Morris as GM and Jeff Garrison as PD, others have said it started when CBS bought KILT, whatever. I'll get over it, someday. I joined reelradio and they have some killer air checks. One more thing, a sales lady for another station told me the new KILT FM morning show lost 93,000 cume in one month, anyone know if that's true?

Well since Cox isn't going give KHPT a chance anymore, we'll see how they do in the next round. BTW, will the ratings be based on the station before or after the flip?

June ratings will include both, about 3/5th Zone and the rest will be the simulcast, so unfortunately it won't be an accurate way to measure the last weeks of The Zone.
