i second that.

Even XM/Sirus only has one hip hop station (main stream). Maybe HD Radio might be the answer to this topic if someone would launch one.

HD does sound like another option, it seems to be comming really popular now a days.

Getting another rap/hip hop station sounds good, but i wouldn't hold your breath. The rap/hip hop industry are struggling just as bad the rock industry. The young crowd wants hear stupid pop music and other stupid crap on the radio. we really didn't need another regional Mexican music station.

By the way I'm new, and it's nice to meet you all! :)

KRBE AND HOT 95.7 DONT break local houston music!
the dj's in the mixshow will if they can! and much love to them but there is lil mixshow on krbe and HOT

and with lil to NO MIXSHOW u get NO BREAKING ARTISTS AND that leads to NO HIPHOP!

No disrespect Noble but I guess you don't listen to my mixshow on Hot every night from 940pm-1020pm Monday thru Friday and also the LIVE Broadcast from Rich's on Thursdays with Johnny J 10pm-1am.

Hot has broken a lot of new music from new artists like David Rush, LMFAO, Kid Cudi (One of the first Top 40s in the country to play), that KRBE would never touch. Last I checked, they rapped on those records and guess where those records started on Hot? Yep! My mixshow!

As for breaking Local music, my suggestion is to make some music our stations can play. There's a reason why HOT is now 2nd in Cume (1.4 mil listeners more than KRBE) behind KODA beating the competition. ;D

I dont, I really think we need one more spanish station. A regional mexican station that doesnt mention Mexico all the time. There are some of us who like the music but have pride of being mexican-american.

[/quote]If you were refering to me, I wasn't trying to offend you by anyway. I get confused with generas of music from time to time.

Another hip hop station wouldn't be any worse than another Urban AC. Both "The Box" and "Majic" are ripe for competition. Both are consistently in the top 5, and no one else to take numbers from either. KPTY was a good attempt, but on 2 limited signals. I would imagine that if put on a full fledged Mo. City signal, someone could give Radio One a run for their money.

Mr. Texmex, you make me like you less and less. We need more Espanol on the radio, like we need higher gas prices.

Or if the weather needs to be more hotter than it is now.

Well you know what they say mr ric and purpledevil. The higher the gas prices the better for houstons economy.

Another Rap Hiphop station would be nice if they played more old skool 2000 or older stuff & had more djs doing live mixes kinda like 93.3 austin. If they station played mostly newer rap hiphop I would say houston does not need this station

Well hopefully if Houston gets another Hip hop station, I hope it won't be like Hot 93. Hot 93 plays way to much pop even in their mixes.

And you know what hard working people say, the higher the gas prices the more empty our wallets will be.

What about something like V-103 in Atlanta?? Hip-hop in the daytime, and R&B at night. Now that's killing two birds with one stone, or at least trying.

I am really liking how they changed up the format on KFMK in Austin. They play Rhythmic Oldies during the day and new hiphop at night. That maybe a good format for Houston?
