Houston needs another Hip Hop station!!!

I am really liking how they changed up the format on KFMK in Austin. They play Rhythmic Oldies during the day and new hiphop at night. That maybe a good format for Houston?

Yeah i heard Jammin 105.9 yesterday when i was in austin. sounds very unique and interesting, but i think they play hip-hop only only all day sundays. it might work down here, maybe.

That might work. Houston, has a bigger hip hop scene then Austin. Austin is more Alternative.

I JUST WISH KPTY PARTY 93.3 BACK ON THE AIR!!! :(

And a lady and i were just talking about Party earlier tonight. I cant believe im saying this, but i actually wished party 93.3 would come back too, even thought it wasn't really the best, but at least people had a second choice of what hip-hop station to listen to besides The Box.

Don't hold your breath. I wish rock 101 would come back as well. 93.3 and 101.1 were good stations!

so true. rock 101 was one hell of a station too.

Right now, i'm living in Yuma, AZ, and their is not a single rap/hiphop or rock station in this town. This what we have. 5 Spanish stations, 1 country station, 2 top 40 stations, and 2 fm talk stations. The population of this town is 90,000. You would think we would have a we bit more to offer.

Houston radio is starting to suck monkey balls!!!!

And it's been getting worse and worse too. If there is a god in heaven and someone flips to some sort of urban, who will do it?? Will a company no one's heard about come into town and buy a station or two?

This is why 2 or 3 pirates should jump on the air whit decent power & range

Cox, might do it. Clear channel, I would say no, because the stations that they have now are doing pretty well. Cumulus, That I'm too sure about. They only have three stations, and the only station comes in good is krbe. The other two are just rim shots. Cbs, well they are doing pretty good with all of their stations. Cox, is probably most likley. 93q will stay. The other two aren't doing so well. Country legends is struggling and so is the point.

My guess for those two stations in the near future is Active rock and hip hop/rap.

I dunno about Cox because they're too afraid of getting rid of "Point"less. Cumulus needs to do something IMMEDIATELY to get back in the game because their rimshot stations are deep in the crapper.

Would Cumulus kill off heritage KRBE? Im pretty sure they're doing alright in the older demos. I just don't see a need for another hip hop station, most sound like mere rhythmic heavy top 40s anyways. Perhaps someone could think outside the box (for once) and create a classic hip hop station, I think we are the time where we can create a hip hop gold format.

You betcha. If it makes an extra buck, they'd play a dialtone on it. Keep in mind that these stations aren't locally owned... these corporations have absolutely no ties to Houston, and the stockholders are only interested in profit and growth. Absent that, change will come to all of them, regardless of their histories.
