There are a lot of good part time people in this business who don't get a lot of credit for their efforts. Good part time people are hard to find. One of the key elements of a good parttimer is reliablity and punctuality. I actually feel that way about myself when I was part time. I could be counted on, like many of the old pros in this town who are out of work.
This post is to publicly acknowledge my staff.
David Sadof-many of you know him from the Buzz, KLOL and KFNC with his Hi-Fidelity show. I hired him earlier this year as the Sunday producer for KNTH/KKHT/KTEK. This man is a true professional. Without being too detailed, I have to say that he goes at great lengths to get the job done.
Miko Nelson-this lady has exceled beyond my imagination. It's her first time in radio and has responded like she has been in the business for years. I have used her voice on several commercials and promos. I can't say enough good things about her performance.
Loraine Horton-she has been in Houston radio for many years. Most of her time has been at KKHT and KTEK. She produces Saturday mornings and can handle any situation that comes her way. If a station goes off the air or if the dreaded ENCO air system goes crazy, she regains control in a short time in a cool calm demeanor.
David Chino-Saturday morning producer on KKHT. Nice voice which hardly gets used, but he can be counted on anytime.
Matt Menn-He is the KKHT Sunday morning producer, a job which he has held for 10 years.
We recently hired Kelly Hammond and my old compadre from my KILT days, Ron Samuels who has been in radio since 1965. It's good to be with him again.
There are many others in this town that don't get the recognition they deserve. Some station program directors and their assistant program directors take their weekend staff for granted. Because of that, they have to spend a lot of time always finding somebody new and training them. When a PD goes home for the weekend, he/she should feel content about the staff they have assembled and not have to worry about the station. Oh, I expect to be called when there is a problem that needs my attention or decision. However, its a good feeling to know that it is left in capable hands.
Thank you. I appreciate your efforts.
