I hear alot of assitance and information during this emergency! Local radio is doing what it is obligated to do. There is one gripe DO NOT CALL ME A CITIZEN. This is not the Soviet Republic even with a curfew of 9pm to 6am that hampers many in the recovery needs. Many are being forced to move and time is very important and if you have to work then come home you are screwed. Talk radio lets talk.

Over all I give this market an A.

Now all citizens continue this radio blog until Uncle Al tell us to stop.

Are any of the towers down? Anybody running on reduced power? I haven't heard KKBQ since the storm. KTRH also seems weaker than normal.

KLVI Beaumont is off the air as well as KACC Alvin. KACC was transmitting dead carrier for quite sometime, not that is off. TV stations 14 and 51 seem to be off.
Also looks as if KPFT, KTRU and KTSU are off.

Old Chicago

105.3 KPTI Crystal Beach is no more. Only the tower is standing. Beach house has disappeared. Also 1430 KCOH has extensive damage to the transmitter building. They are off the air.

Stations off of the air currently, due to Ike...
88.3 KAFR/Conroe, 89.7 KACC/Alvin, 90.1 KPFT/Houston, 90.5 KJIC/Santa Fe, 91.5 & 91.7 KTRU/Houston, 97.5 KFNC/Beaumont, 101.5 KSTB/Crystal Beach, 105.3 KPTI/Crystal Beach, 560 KLVI/Beaumont, 650 KIKK/Pasadena (restored yesterday) 880 KJOJ/Conroe, 920 KYST/Texas City, 1110 KTEK/Alvin (Actually picking up KJSA/Mineral Wells as of yesterday during the morning, KTEK was back during the afternoon) 1140 KYOK/Conroe, 1180 KGOL/Humble, 1360 KWWJ/Baytown, 1430 KCOH/Houston, and 1540 KGBC/Galveston.

Noticed 1400 KHCB/Galveston booming into Houston yesterday morning, even clearer than such signals as KGOW, and KTRH. Not sure why...but by the late afternoon KHCB-A was back to it's typical staticy mess in the North side. 101.7 KSAM/Huntsville was coming in well yesterday, so I don't know the status of KXGJ/Bay City. 106.5 KOVE/Galveston is losing the feed or something, because the audio keeps popping on and off every few seconds.

Have you noticed the donation promos on Jack? "Visit either of our sister Cumulus stations, 103.7 Jack-FM or 104.1 KRBE to help with the recovery"? Did they forget they do still own KFNC, or are they just pretending that debacle never happened, now that it's off of the air?

Saw a report on 13 this morning about two radio stations telling people that they were handing out FEMA vouchers at the George R Brown last night. Except there are no FEMA vouchers, and they weren't handing anything out last night at the George R Brown, either.

Oops.

Based on the ethnicity of the people there, I'm going to make a wild guess and suspect that someone at The Box and Majic screwed up. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like a big fat sewer rat fraudster to me! Get the police out there quick and arrest the bums.

What the ____ good would a FEMA voucher be? A slip of paper saying "the paper is good for relief supplies a month from now"? A fat lot of good that would be! They might as well be selling "slightly damaged" beach houses at Crystal Beach if you are stupid enough to believe in FEMA vouchers.
