Houston Radio's New Math

Oh puleeeeeeeeeeeze! I'm sure many people would die to have a 24 hour work week. Get over yourself. If you don't like the benefits, or lack thereof, get a new job with actual full-time hours and stop your whining!

For me, I would be more than happy to have 20+ hours a week - it's been hell trying to get by on far less than that...

obviously dont understand the biz. why are you here?

also obviously dont understand that this board is as much about the QUALITY of radio, as the folks who staff it. Good pay + benefits = better pool of talent to choose from. We've all been on the radio. (probably not you) It takes more than novelty to select a job, and we're losing good people, hence the quality suffers.

wasted too much time explaining what should be obvious.

I agree totally with its time w (your name)...I've known several people that have lost their jobs - and yes, the quality suffers - just as it does when airshifts are voice tracked - it has become an airshift - not entertainment and information.

This mathematical equation knows no boundaries and extends far past the Houston DMA. Companies are looking for ways to remain or attain a position of profitability. At the end of the day,the question is... At what cost???

I see... you're expressed by this equation:

5 midday voice track shows @ 1/hour day + 2 4 hour weekend shifts = not enough money to fill the tank to get to the station
