KYOK - 1590

News schedules are shown but no indication of music format for any of the AMs. COLs in parentheses are from my knowledge, not the paper.

FM

KUHF - difficult to determine the frequency from the graphic used; I know the station has moved a couple of times; it is about half-way between 91 and 92 mc.
KARO - 94.5
KHUL - 95.7
KFMK - 97.9
KHGM - 99.1
KTRH - 101.1
KQUE - 102.9
KRBE - 104.1

KHGM-FM and KTRH-FM are both shown as playing Classical and popular music; KRBE-FM is Classical; there was no information about KUHF programming; all others FMs are 'popular' music.
Edited by hrhwebmaster on 01/15/06 11:05 PM.

No kidding. It was in different places.

> KARO - 94.5
Not sure of the format.

> KHUL - 95.7
Jazz. "Cool Jazz" (Funny how things work out. It started as a jazz station. Leroy Gloger bought and it became KIKK-FM(Super KIKK). It would stay that way for 36 years before becoming KHJZ, "Smooth Jazz 95.7, The Wave.")

> KFMK - 97.9
Houston's 1st album rock station. It was known as an underground station. However, I have no ideawhat its beginnings were.

> KQUE - 102.9
Combination of MOR and beautiful music. (Originally KPRC-FM. The Hobby family had to sell it because the owned KPRC-TV Channel 2, KPRC-950 and the Houston Post. The FCC made them get rid of one of their properties. Dave Morris who owned KNUZ purchased it and changed it to KQUE.

100.3 KOST was on the air with "Candlelight and Gold." It was beautiful music in its infancy. It would become KILT-FM and then KZAP, and back to KILT-FM. In 1984 it would become KXAS for 3 months and then finally KILT-FM, it's prsent calls.
