Houston Television's graphic package.

Of all 4 major TV stations in the Houston Area, KPRC Local 2 was the last one to unveil their new graphs-And I can tell you, It looks very cheap. very low-profiled, and looks just like those graphs you see on a small town TV station. It looks like it all the graphs were drawn by a 12-year old. Looks very crappy. My favorite graphic package on Houston TV would go to ABC-13's Eyewittness News, and my second choice would go to Channel 11. KPRC deserves an F!

I agree...I was very impressed by KTRK's new package....but KPRC's....wow. The L3s are absolutely repulsive....

On the other hand, I have just saw FOX-26, as they have unveiled a brand new set for its newscast, to match their graphs. And the set and the graphs also mirrored other FOX-Owned stations. Needless to say, it is one of many FOX stations that does'nt even have a 5, 6 or 10PM newscast.

As crappy as their graphics are, they are but the latest crappy in-house graphics the station has had in the last 9 years (I moved to Houston in 1997, moved away in 2005).

I would posit that economics has something to do with it. The station has been the cellar-dweller for almost all of the last 9 years. I'm sure that PNS management isn't willing to be looser with the purse strings until ratings (and ad revenue) improve.

Though, again, these may only be temporary as I hear rumblings that KPRC has a new set in the works. So who knows.

I'm waiting for the logo change from the stylized 2 (I think they're the only PNS station that has any sort of stylized logo) - When WDIV ditched their 4 from the 80s & 90s for the "Bold Italic Helvetica 4" - I thought "ugh..."

13's and 11's packages scream (to me at least) HDTV (wonder who will be the first, then we'll know who will be second...) - 26 is stuck with Fox O&O package; 39 isn't bad (just not a big fan of the CW logo) - though I'm glad they brought back the 39 (rather than "Houston's CW"). Can't answer for the Spanish stations, but with 47, 39 in Dallas, and 60 in San Antonio going to a shared/regionalized newscast after the first of the year, I suspect there will be a couple of graphics changes...

2's (from what I've seen) look like they're straight from PowerPoint 101... Please tell me, though, that they aren't using "Arial" for the font (vs. Helvetica)...

(I'm also trying to figure out how/why they won a Texas Emmy for best newscast???)

Looks like I'm gonna have to buy myself a flat-screen TV-Just to watch 11, 13 or 26, because they're High-Def.

I just purchased my new 42" HDTV LCD flat screen last Saturday and the new logo/graphic packages on 11, 13 and 26 look great on the new set. They look jumbled on my old 32" Sony tube. You need sunglasses to watch 26's news or any Fox news program. Their graphics are WAY over the top. In fact, if you watch any of their newscasts, you would think the only news in the world is their new set. They should focus on the product which is the weakest news in the market. Bottomline, KRIV is still the worst station on the planet. I agree with most of the posts on this thread. Channel 2's logo is amateurish at best, but then again, so is their once great station. Is it any wonder you see a revolving door of anchors and reporters there.
