Houston Traffic/MAP Deputy Retiring Friday...

Many of you in the business in the Houston area may know of Deputy Mel Collins with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. Mel is my brother-in-law, and truly one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I know that many of you have dealt with Mel over the years, as he has been with the MAP for 21 years of his 29 years with the Sheriff's Department. For those of you who work at TranStar, you know Mel - he's 51 on the two way. Anyway, tomorrow (Friday, June 12th) is Mel's last day on the job as he is retiring. If you get the opportunity, please wish him well as he has served the motorists of and in Harris County with distinction and honor.

51 will be missed by all.

Mel has been a big help to us at Traffic.com for many years. It is a great feeling having someone out on the roadways that actually knows what they're talking about. I not only enjoyed working with Mel, I enjoyed those Thursday spaghetti lunches at Our Mother Of The Holy Pasta up off of East Whitney just west of Airline. Gosh, how many times over the years did Mel, J.R., Marshall, a wrecker driver or two, and I enjoy that fellowship???

Good luck, Mel! I know we'll see you again!!
