HOUSTON WE HAVE A HOT NEW MORNING SHOW

CBS announced yesterday that Booker and Sarah a morning duo, out of all places Evansville, Ind., will be the new morning show on HOT 957 starting Monday July 21st. Dave Morales who had been doing mornings will move to afternoons.

So are they moving to Houston, or is this another Bob & Tom sort of deal? Just what Houston needs, another syndicated show.

It isn't syndicated.

I just hope it is something different other than Prime Time TV gossip. I am tired of that crap. Let's hope for better. That crap is so old and that people listen to it shows just how far radio has falling from it's one time standards. I hope these jokers come in with something new.

The main reason why i hate morning shows. I'd rather listen to "a bunch of songs in a row."

I'd rather just let the music do all the talking. That's one reason why I can't stand in your face morning shows.

Yeah, that's smart to judge a morning show before you've heard it. ::)

Your right listento...

I did read up, but I will give them a chance.

I've been listening to these two for the past 5 and half years...yes they do have a lot of the gossip news...but they have an interesting twist on it. They also have very down to earth sympathetic segments as well as random hilarious segments. I envy the Houston market simply because they have inherited such great talent.

To give you an idea how great this duo is, I plan to listening to their new station live online each day.

I really do think you all will be impressed with them.

Yes, it makes sense. They're saying that they like them so much, they're going to be streaming them daily.

What I mean is that their show is so good that many of their local over-the-air listeners (including me) are going to follow them to a new station. Radio personalities come and go often, but other than Booker and Sarah, I have never thought anyone was good enough to follow outside my local market.

We welcome them to the 4th largest city in the USA and the 6th largest radio market. Listeners will be the final judge on their leap to major market radio.

There would be truth to the argument that it isn't fair to judge a morning show without even hearing it if not for the sad fact that morning radio has become what it is --- nothing more than, at the most, 8 songs an hour and a whole bunch of mindless and meaningless babble about TV shows and so-called entertainment news. It's the same, regardless of the show, the market, or the genre of music. If you've heard one, you've heard them all, only the names of the personalities change. I don't know how many people actually listen to or better yet, enjoy, the tailored nature of the morning discussions. To me, it's noise and not much else, these days, and I was once in Houston radio.

The sad thing is, many times when I watch a TV show and then hear the morning radio hosts tell me what I saw the night before, the details that are shared with the listeners are often ad-libbed with quick internet research because the personalities didn't even watch the show. Sometimes, they try to act the part, for the sake of entertainment, but usually, then, they give a false fact about the previous night's show and prove they didn't watch it. If the personalities don't take the time to watch the show, their analysis of the previous night's show is not needed; why make yourself look dumb? But, morning personalities seem to do it all the time. (I have no specific examples and am not naming names; they're all guilty at one point or another!)

This is exactly why I'm so enjoying satellite radio and my CD collection, these days. I've put morning radio in my past and I haven't been happier, since I did!

When I think radio, I think music and commercials, since they're needed. The state of morning radio is just plain sad.

Y'all are going to love Booker and Sarah! I know it sounds outlandlish that they're coming from little ole Evansville, Indiana, but I've thought for some time now that Evansville will not hold them forever. It was inevitable they would be picked up by a larger city. And you know, many big time TV personalities started out in small towns throughout America. Everyone has to start somewhere. Give them a chance. They're smart, quick, funny, and yet with a real touch of common decency.

oh great the automobile accident rate in houston will be going up because people won't have both or all hands on the steering wheel they will be too busy changing the knob. That is why I still have cassettes. Come to Houston, bring your audio tapes your going to need them. Cd's skip and I am a analog junkie. I refuse to get the following HD radio, Digital TV, Blu-ray. OMG I sound like a senior citizen ???

Is everyone in this place HOTwashed?

I took a look at there website... http://www.hot96.com/sectional.asp?id=10981
Compared to what most of Houston radio has been doing with web, it's a blip on the radar.

Consider how crucial it is for HOT to prove itself on in the market. Can they handle it?

They would really have to step it up, like, REALLY step it up. And considering personalities out of small markets...we all know that 'bigger than their britches' attitude, not to mention a completely different locale to cater too...

Do you really think they are a viable competitor? (Aside from the local fans trying to talk them up)

Just an honest question...
