How 92.3 could affect 91.5...

According to copious studies conducted by KJZZ, they share most listeners with KTAR. When KTAR adds 92.3, that'll be right next to KJZZ's 91.5. The KJZZ staff has long bemoaned that the PD will not allow them to create local programming. They are worried KTAR's new, added dial position will affect their numbers. Just think...Pat McMahon and Diane Rehm will be wrinkled neck to wrinkled neck at 9AM! :p

Kind of a toss-up as to which one's voice is harder to take! But What In The Wide Wide World of Sports is a goin' on with KT'R's decision to have Pat McMahon do his Friday show from Bill Johnson's Big Apple on Van Buren? Nurse Jeff and I can't figure why The Men In Secret Underwear allow Pat to ramble for three hours about how great Phoenix was in the 1960s and gee, weren't those Lew King remotes somethin' else? ??? We guess the only reason for putting Pat there is because SRP has it's HQ on Legend City! For a good laugh, read TMISU's "News on FM" initiative: http://www.bonnint.com/docs/FM_news_initiative.pdf and tell us how Gen X KT'R will be on 92.3  ??? ;D

Re: nostalgic ruminations with Pat

I, too, happened to hear that ramble through old Phoenix history. Though I can enjoy some nostaligic ruminations, I wondered about the point... Is this part of Russ Hill's plan to bring back the good 'ol high-ranking KTAR? Are there enough of us "vintage" natives around to form a sizable enough core listenership? This town has expanded exponentially since we knew and loved Pat as Gerald, Aunt Maude, Captain Super, et. al. Whether that underwear is secret or sacred, the programming powers seem to be wandering with wedgies.

You can put Pat in the 21st Century, but you can't keep him from thinking 60s & 70s  At one point during the Friday morning ramblefest he referred to his show as a "magazine". One of his special guests was none other than Michael Dixon who did movie reviews. What part of 2006 don't the Men In Secret Underwear understand? ??? ??? About the only relevent thing of the 70's for Nurse Jeff and me is the beloved Gremlin...but even we installed an XM a couple of years ago!

Wow, I missed it, Dixon and McBland?Bore-a-palooza!Time for Pat to put on a local famous chef so he can fawn all over him and get a free dinner out of it.Magazine?Dear lord, Pat is about as hard hitting as a cotton ball.
