How About A "Classic Disney Channel" for cable & satellite?

I don't know if it is financially feasable, but I wished the Disney would start a new network showing vintage Disney Movies, Catoons & TV Shows. They can call it "Classic Disney Channel" or better yet how about "Vault Disney", which was the name of the vintage collection of shows that were shown on "The Disney Channel" years ago.

Disney used to have this but now its Disney XD aka Disney 2. When the channel first came out it was called Toon Disney and aired Disney cartoons like; Resure Rangers, Tale Spin, Ducktales, etc.. You think Disney would have a classic network but nope.

I remember hearing somewhere that there was going to be a "Disney Jr." or "Disney Preschool" channel, taking the place of SoapNet.

I agree, Disney has no annimated shows exept Phineas and Ferb anymore. Disney XD is supposed to be a Disney Channel targeted at boys. Also unlike Disney Channel, XD has non-disney commericials

I just thought this off the top of my head. Disney should take Disney XD and make it Disney Movie Channel. All Disney made films including cartoon.

It's supposed to launch about a year from now, but it's going to be marketed as a Nick Jr. type of channel. Not the type of programming the original postr is lloking for.

Are there many old Disney shows that aren't available on DVD?

I'm thinking the reason this wouldn't work is along the same lines of why a youtube channel wouldn't work.

Better yet. Disney has a huge vault of shorts, movies and tv shows that are hardly ever seen anymore. Why not get some of that stuff out and put it on a subchannel on some of their ABC affiliates. Of course that will never happen. As long as people are willing to shell out $80 a month for cable or dish, they will never give away anything for free. Now you can't even get any football on New Years day anymore without having to pay for it. Putting the Rose Bowl on cable is unforgivable.

The cartoons that you mention maybe old but not vintage like I was suggested. Your list of shows are from the 1980's. I was thinking more like 1930's to 1970's with a large emphasis on the 40's through 60's.

Agreed 100%! Those shorts were the genesis of all of those characters that kids flock to today. I wonder what kind of context see the likes of Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck in when they have never seen the actual shorts that their 'personalities' came from.

Disney: open the vaults and make those cartoons available to us! That stuff is "classic Disney" and it's what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. By the way, I wasn't around in the 40s or 50s - but those decades are the ones that brought us the best Disney cartoon shorts and I enjoyed them a good 30 years later. They'd still be entertaining to kids, guaranteed.

What about the days of the Disney Channel back in the late 1980s? Maybe put stuff like Dumbo's Circus, remake of Mickey Mouse Club, etc on, oh wait we'll have Suite Life on Deck reruns before you know it!
