How About an All Grateful Dead Format???

Seriously though, given the recent popularity of WCBS, perhaps the New York is ready for an all jams all the time station. I think CD 101's will translate well to this new format. get a nice mix of the Greatful Dead, Santana, Phish, Dave Matthews (even though he's wicked lame), and, like, the Rudy Brown, and I think you have a viable format with an outstanding built in tsl. All jam bands, all the time. Listen, I went to UMass Amherst with tons of Long Island and New Jersey/Westchester kids....they all loved two things: acid and jam bands. I think this format will work in a city full of burnouts and burnout wannabee's like New York. Any thoughts?

Sirius has one but it would not fly on old fashion radio.

I agree with you- way too narrow and specialized for terrestrial radio. Somebody on another thread a couple of months ago suggested an All-Psychadelic music format- same thing (not to mention there's not near enough familiar music to sustain it over any sort of long haul).

Even better idea. How about an all GRATEFUL DEAD format? Great songs, Uncle John's Band, Sugar Magnolia.
I don't know if the Greatful Dead even made an album.

In the early 80's a small AM station near Houston went all-Beatles. The format lasted 6 months.

In the mid-80's a daytimer in Philadelphia went with nothing but Beatles and Motown. The format lasted 6 months.
