How are concerts financed?

Does someone (record label, etc.) put the money up?

How does it work?

Usual way is that a concert promotor hires a hall, hires the aritist they want, makes deal for concessions, advertises showh, makes deal with ticketmaster, arranges for radio and other media tie ins and promotions, holds concet and hopes to make a profit.

In the case of major artists who have a "tour" the artist management works with promoters who handle the local details in each market... the arrangements and who does what may vary a bit, but this is the basic sturcture for most concerts.

The labels help with promotions, etc. Seldom does the label get involved in the concet itself.
