Hi to all!
Just a question. Was wondering how you have your studios set up, in your part 15 radio stations. Don't have a huge budget, and Need a newer computer, or if you have advice on a computer that isnt real expensive, to hold music. What's the best place to look? Need some help.. Just want to make my station sound great again, and man its tough.
______________

We have an Ipod that is powered by batteries, kept charged by a solar panel on the roof of the station. As long as there is a sun, it plays and plays. If we don't have a sun, then we have more to worry about than Part 15!

Hi Jesse,

I think we corresponded recently via email about Part 15.

My brother in law builds computers as a side job, and built one for my station for less than $400 that I use for my Christian internet station.

I uses a program called dbPowerAmp to record the music from vinyl, cassettes, CDs, etc to mp3. The dbPowerAmp costs $14 for the license, after a 30 day free trial to see if you like the program or not.

WJJD and MUSIC OF NEW LIFE both have full-fledged studios with turntables, cassette decks, CD players, etc. running through a mixer for live
shows. If you don't need to do live shows, you can get by with a lot less!

Here's the PowerAmp site: http://www.dbPowerAmp.com

Hope this is helpful. Email me if you really need a computer and I'll see if my brother in law would be willing to help..and no, I don't get a commission.

Best wishes!

>Alan,
We need to meet just to shake hands. You are indeed a great friend and one who can understand the (Budget)thingie ! I am on a serious budget and I have all of what you mentioned, but computer is another thing. I have a older comp,
but have upgraded it recently. Today, dropped 60 dollars on a bigger harddrive,
and the only problem is when playing tracks it tends to kinda studder, in the middle of the tracks. Not on all, but Im thinkin this is due to memory not being what it should be. In any case thanks for the advice, and if this does not do what I want then I will be in touch.. Thanks again, if youre ever in atlanta then look me up.

Back when my part 15 station was on the air before my computer I used 2 two hour tape in a auto reverce tape player I got from a yard sale for $10 then I used a MP3 CD player I got from walmart for $20 and the last thing I used was a 5 disk CD changer got that at a yard sale for $10.

I just used what ever I could get my hands on. We had a old C-band Satellite dish I used to get news and some programming off of. My dad use to be a mobel DJ so he had stuff I could use.

Drop me a E-mail I can help u some more!
______________

I would say go to Fry's Electronics, there's one in Duluth. You can get a good deal on computers and other parts, because they purchase in MAJOR BULK. http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4698278?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG is a good deal, and it includes MS Windows XP Home.

Or, you can go to Best Buy. You can normally get a good PC Package (PC, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, and Printer) for under $400. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...oductCategoryId=cat01173&id=pcmprd52400050001 is a link to one that I found just a while ago.

Oh, and I'm using a Dell Dimension XPS (about a couple months old) to run my station, with full automation.

Hope this helps,
Tim

Our Ipod has I.D.s, PSAs, commercials, etc. all programmed into it, along with the tunes. Very flexible. We update its playlist, every few days as needed, late at night, when all the town is alsleep!
