How bad can it get?

Am I the only one that finds myself avoiding the Rod Ryan show on Buzz? It's virtually unlistenable anymore. I remember when he first got here. He just seemed very into the show. Then over the last 6 months or so it seems like he couldn't care less. Now with both of his side-kicks gone it's unlistenable. I had heard some talk of him returning to New Orleans. Not on a station while being on the Buzz... just moving back there to be there instead of here. Maybe that's why he seems he'd rather be somewhere else. Anyone else hear anything?

CC has botched the destruction of WRNO to News/Talk and have delayed the much promised format flip for yet another few weeks. If they do not flip the station format, that means they would have lied to the New Orleans newspaper. No, you are not the only one who finds the Buzz mornings unlistenable. They shouldn't be on the air in New Orleans or Houston. :p :p :p

How long of a deal did Rod sign? If it was 3 years, then he's nearing the end of his tenure. Maybe he just doesn't care anymore. From what I heard of the show, that may be the case. It reminds me of a small market show where I grew up. Great for memories, but horrible for market 7.

what makes me scratch my head is: why would anyone be anxious to go back to New Orleans? career-wise, it's not even a top-50 market anymore. safety-wise, the city is a major catastrophe waiting to happen... even worse than katrina. it's geologically more unsound than they previously thought.... saw an article a few weeks back that said engineers grossly underestimated the amount the city is sinking annually and that even repairing the levees isn't gonna fix their vulnerability. and they're imposing curfews and calling in the national guard? let's just bring back martial law! why go back to that? frankly, I'm kinda ticked they're wasting so many tax dollars trying to salvage the un-savable, and even if you've got good memories there it would seem like a pretty silly call to leave market 7 for that floundering mess.

What makes it so unlistenable? I still enjoy the show.

Several things. The replacement for Travis is awful, and sounds like he has zero radio experience. He talks over Rod all the time. Rod seems to be struggling for topics and once something gets going it dies quickly. It seems like there's less prep work being done and more "let's just wing it" when I listen to the show. I mean I know he lost Theresa on maternity leave, but he should still be able to put on a show.

Theresa is pregnant?
Travis is gone?
what is the happening at the Buzz??? :p

shows how long I've stopped listening. ;)
I know, I know. sounds like its back to square one, 2 1/2 years ago. no sidekicks to bounce bad ideas off. where are the guys from New Orleans? I thought Rod was going to bring those guys with him. That never happened. One of the stupidest things Vince did was blow out the entire airstaff.

I don't know if that was such a bad thing. The numbers have gone up with the new staff. I know people say they love Steve & Jeff, but that was small market radio at it's worst. Lisa sounded way too old to be playing the music and Eric sounded like his doodie didn't stink. Whip was good when he was here. For the most part, I like the staff at The Buzz. But with the morning show it almost sounds like Rod has given up.

Jessica was with him in New Orleans. I don't know what she did there. Maybe I'll have to listen more closely to the show to see if I can pick up on the same things everyone else is. For the most part, I think the air staff is good. I've heard a lot of criticism though. Maybe I'm just too positive. :)
