If I'm not mistaken, Sean's mother has been in and out of health for a couple of years. She lives in the NE somewhere, and moving to Atlanta significantly shortened the amount of time it takes for him to get there. I have no personal knowledge of it, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was a major factor.dyoungprod said:I don't get what's in this for Sean. He leaves a great job in San Francisco and his wife behind to basically become 2nd mic on a failing Cumulus station? Something doesn't add up. And now his wife moves but not to Atlanta? Is he really in this for the long term?
Plus, we're assuming that the SF job was "great". He hasn't said much about it. Maybe he missed being on air - and, again, no personal knowledge, but a few programming moves that happened around that time made it look like CBS was starting to meddle. I seem to remember some discussion around the time of his departure from SF that he was tired of having a "desk job" (or something like that).
The conspiracy theory part of my brain wonders if maybe Susquehanna included a clause in the contract that forced Cumulus to keep 99x around for a specific period of time (eg, two years) - not unlike how Infinity was rumored to have been contractually forced to not carry Howard Stern as part of its purchase of Z93 back in the early 90s. If that were even remotely the case, we'd have a little over six months left.
