How can I fix this problem? (Tech question)

Sometimes when I ride through Gonzales I'll bring along my walkman and listen to the radio, I know this isnt KLTO's fault, but it bleeds over just about every station I try to tune in. I have a Sony walkman, am/fm/tv/weather bands, theirs also that illeagle 101.3 out there also that sometimes gives me problems. I gues there is really no way I can fix this? I wish their was some way to fix the bleeding over probelm.
 
Sounds like front end overload. You didn't mention if it was KTLO am or fm. The fm's a pretty big gun, and unless the signal's really clean, meaning no spurs or harmonics, it will easily bypass the the detector of your radio and spread into the IF section. Also excessive modulation levels can cause havok. That means all KTLO all the time.

This was especially true when I worked at WIBG in Philadelphia. It was (then) a five tower array using 2 RCA Ampliphase xmtrs...50Kw day and 10Kw night. At full power and modulation, Wibbage owned every radio on Ridge Pike in Lafayette Hills, PA. Hell, you could still hear the station after you shut off the ignition as the RF level excited the voice coil in the dashboard speaker!

First of all, few of us are from Texas so we're not familiar with the area. Fortunately it's easy to figure out where you and the station are.

Checking the maps via RadioLocator.com, Gonzales is about 35 miles or so NNW of KLTO's (25 kW ERP on 97.7) location in Cuero, although they have a CP to increase their power to 100 kW and move to near Leesville, possibly targetting San Antonio.

I wouldn't think that KLTO would bother any station in or near Gonzalez with that power level unless they've already moved. It's probably your walkman.

Sorry should of gave out some more infomation about the area, by radio-locator it shows KLTO-FM about 16 miles from Gonzales, I think my walkman is just a lousy walkman, because even at 30 miles from there it bleeds over. Does anyone know of a good decent walkman that will work? Mine is a Sony, it picks up good, but its lousy.

OK, sounds like they've already moved. It probably is front-end overload in your walkman then.

I have one that I bought for $50 a few years ago (AM/FM/VHF-TV only - no CD player) that works just fine here in Phoenix, and I'm about 5 miles from the South Mountain antenna farm (15 high-powered FMs and 10 TV stations on top of a 1500-foot-high rock). I get no overload at all.
