How can...

The new owners take over 1270 wuco right away and change the format? But on wqio-fm we have to wait for months for the new owners to take over.

LMA my friend, LMA.... It all depends on the sale, Clear Channel apperently has chosen not to go the LMA route with BAS thus your hearing Clear Channel until the deal is completely handled and they hand over the keys.

When a station sells and the programming changes very quickly its usually because the purchasers have entered an LMA agreement with the sellers to take over programming ahead of time.<P ID="signature">______________

I was just looking through the FCC filings concerning this change-of -ownership and that's exactly what happened. There is a temporary time brokerage agreement in place between now and the time the transfer is approved by the FCC and ownership transfer legally takes place. FWIW...from what I could determine, it looks like the purchase price was 250K.

Or, the new owners may, for whatever reason, not be interested in taking over operationally until the close. Every situation is different.

Nationwide, for example, would not LMA their stations pending sale to Jacor (of which mine was one). Remember, the licensee is still responsible for anything broadcast, regardless of any brokerage agreement.
