How come heads don't roll

How come heads don't roll when WLEV tanks? The upper management remains intact but the lower level folks and air people always seem to get axed. The responsibility for success never falls on the shoulders of the GM?

Any particular reason you ask this cheerful question six days before Christmas? What makes you so sure the station is currently "tanking?" Do you know something the rest of the Valley doesn't know since this is an "embargoed" market?

Welcome to corporate America.

> No inside info. Just observations of past experiences at WLEV. It has "tanked" off and on over the last six or seven years, especially the last book.

I would assume LEV storms back in the ratings in a big way because of Christmas. I believe the GM is also responsible for WCTO..a perennial market leader...so you can't very well fire him or her when one of the properties is a constant winner.

LEV has suffered over the years for a number of reasons:

1 The frequency shift in 97 or 98..
2.4000 PDS and Morning show hosts in the past 8 years or so..
3.Constantly changing the product and not giving anything a chance.
This due to the "I want it now" mentality that exists in all corporate radio.
4.Constantly changing the name of the station...Mix, My, Soft Rock..no wonder nobody knows who this station is. The only thing that matters is the frequency..100.7. In fact, just call the station 100.7 and they'd be better off in the long run.
5. The Hawk's arrival. An extremely soft Classic Hits approach that works at work.

2006 is coming. Will this station even exist a year from now? Or will the "corporate minds" in NY change it to a Jack....or a Jolly Joe?
