How dependable is the new IP remote hardware and software?

I've only worked with the Tieline series of equipment, where the amount of delay is configurable. More delay usually leads to better sound quality.

You'll need fairly fast internet service (512 kbps up at least) to get good sound quality, but this is not uncommon any longer. Way more flexible than ISDN.

Comrex Access is as reliable as its broadband connection. It is well-suited to 3G connections because the algorithm adjusts the delay to maintain quality over a varying connection. The amount of dynamic delay is viewable on the screen. Only in the poorest conditions there will be dropouts. The quality is also configurable. We've run full-stereo live music performances with a good 3G connection and over a good WiFi.

The Telos Zephyr IP uses a method of dynamically changing the bit rate and buffer. This constantly adapts to changing conditions of the "INTERNETS" and allows for a constant connection with the best possible audio. I have used them in several locations and they work amazingly well with excellent audio quality. Especially for music . ;D

And they now come in a two rack unit version, so the original three rack unit monster has been downsized to that of a standard Zeph Xstream.
