How did a Michael Buble song end up in the Hot AC format?

It continues to intrigue me that Michael Buble's "Just Haven't Met You Yet" has crossed over into the Hot AC format. How did this happen? What is it about that song that appeals to the Hot AC audience?

105.3 FM (WHTS - Grand Rapids, MI) has had that song in pretty heavy rotation. 105.3 is kind of an Adult Hits format (a combination of Hot AC and some mainstream CHR stuff).

Another thing I wanted to say about Michael Buble is that, in the '00s, most of his music was considered Soft AC and borderline Standards. This has been an interesting transition. Is Michael Buble just selling out to a more mainstream audience?

Well, I'll use my wife (Aged 29) and her sister (Aged 25) to help you understand this perplexing question with a quote from them...

"he's hot and we LOOOOVE his voice" :-\

It's a fun, upbeat record that was promoted the right way. I think it makes CHR's and HAC's sound a lot more diversified!

This isn't the first of his songs that has been played on AC and HAC's. But it may be the first that got so much CHR spin.

I was more surprised it made it to Top-40 radio. It went much further on Hot AC than I expected, but I never thought that it sounded out of place on the station...just a bit leaning for regular AC, but many songs work on both formats.

It's just a song that took off. It's well written and performed and is a nice compliment to all the digital-synth sound on HotAC right now. I think this song defines HotAC better than Katy Perry or Lady Gaga.

It is literally "hot" ac (right?)
