How did the 2/17 signoffs go down?

KDNL-TV ABC affiliate on analog 30 cut from scheduled programming to night light in Spanish at 12 am CDT.

Why was the station running night light programming in Spanish, considering that the market has no Spanish-language stations?

I don't know if they were alternating languages last might but every time I was paying attention it was Spanish. Tonight it is alternating between English and Spanish, but the English portion has Spanish subtitles.

Columbus Ohio

WTTE analog fades into night light and broadcast that 8 minute DTV Loop.
WWHO analog just put up a card stating that their digital signal is on UHF TV46 and contact info.

Biggest surprise that WDEM CA DT switch off their analog signal at 11:59PM on 02.17.2009 as well. I thought WCPX LP and GTN TV23 would go first.

I have no clue if WDEM will multicast their digital signal. Currently 17.2-17.4 is turned on. Right now 17.2-17.4 is showing color bars. There was a message that is being display that the owners on WDEM CA DT is testing their digital signal.

Charleston, SC: WTAT (24) analog and WMMP (36) analog both in Nightlight mode, but WTAT has much lower audio than WMMP.

SCETV (WITV-WJWJ) just shut off at midnight, no carrier, nothing.

Does anyone know what the peoria Illionis stations did when they switched. I have family that lives near thee so I was curious.

Tuesday night I was kind of under the weather so as luck would have it I was out of the room at midnight and missed the shutdown of Univsion 18 WUVN/Hartford. It's weird seeing static on channel 18 again. They were off the air from April 91 until February 97. And even then they weren't on 24/7 so they still had static. In 98 they resumed 24/7 broadcasting.

Meanwhile earlier Tuesday afternoon I was at my parents house and WHPX/26 (ion) was scrolling a message about the switch-over every few minutes at the top of the screen while the infomericals were playing. Inviting viewers with questions to call 444-2626 or writing to them at 3 Shaws Cove in New London.

My reception with WHPX-DT (ION) of New London, CT is a bit stronger here in southern Hartford County, ever since they switched from digital channel 34 to digital channel 26 (26 was their analog channel).

... (Sinclair runs a good ship there unlike at KDNL). Then they cut to nightlight programming featuring a DTV program and local hotline numbers.
I thought about staying up but I didn't.

For four days all I was able to see on my two Sinclair stations was what you described, with alternating English and Spanish programs. Imagine finding out about all this now. Imagine if all analog TV had shut down. It would have been insane! This transition isn't as easy as we've all been told. And what if you're elderly or disabled?

Mrs. Chimp and I are not related.

My name refers to a radio format similar to Jack/Bob but in 1997.

LOL, thanks for the clarification. My name is Mr. then my last name (creative, I know, but it makes it easier than Nate9234923 to have a seldom-used last name).
