How do explain the Dumb things that 95x does?

Is it just me? I don't understand this thread at all.

Well, the thread subject is: How do explain the Dumb things that 95x does? with a link to Wiki that gives a history of the station.

I don't see a connection or a conversion here. What's to discuss?

Our friend Rox can be tough and unforgiving. Oh well, that's the radio biz.

Lets look at January's local sales totals shall we?:
1)B104.7- $232,000
2)TK 99- $196,000
3)93Q - $ 160,000
and all alone in EIGHTH place:
95X $ 51,000
Why change anything at 95X?

$51,000? That's pathetic...I could make that on EBay this month. No wonder I keep reading about X going country...B104 has the moola..that's where a smart company would go but I guess Cumulus is not that smart...

Owner: A lot of people that read this thread are out of towners. They really are not familiar with the history or what's going on now at 95X. Even though I grew in the shadow of Syracuse I don't know much about 95X. I probably haven't listen to the station in 25 years. So please explain what you mean.

Thanks for waiting, this answer took some thought because I rant about it regularly, and you have to be careful about giving away the entire shop.
Many times when I turn to listen, or look in this case, I think Ed Levine is still running 95x. It would take a unique individual, who understands the history of 95x to set it on the right course. Not huge money, research, name talent etc. But an individual. Besides myself, I only know of a few that could produce a recovery of 95x. The sales people have to be wondering WHY? We have tried this and that, spent money on this and that. And I can tell you that there have been some VERY OBVIOUS turn offs from the listener and customer point of view.
I will give you two. One minor with an obvious answer:
No mention of Ed Levine in the Wiki. As much as we know of Ed (and I think he is getting quite sick of being in the Radio Business) as a messed up jerk, or as I put it; Ed and Mimi are the two worst program directors ever in Syracuse. He is a mediocre banker whom has bulshat his way into surviving the Radio business via the fools in Syracuse NY (from his standpoint). People like radio in CNY, but do not like Levine, I dont care what your perception is. Its true. Putting his big ego on the wiki is not promoting him, its a couple of words that could show, in a historical view, you have his number. Now, that is the obvious one meaning shallow programmers wont make it happen. The first (Before the end of your nose) thought is "Im not mentioning that guy, we hate him". Wrong. Grow some balls and use your brain. You need that and heart in Syracuse. The second is "He Will Sue us" which is the stronger point for not doing it.
The second main point was already mentioned a few posts ago. Levine has you programming 95x with new rock which is his heritage with KROCK. Straight classic rock with an emphasis on regional hits is where I would go with it.
I could work at 95x part time and have it Generating Revenue. They probably wouldnt know what I meant by that neither and would have one of the five guys that walk up to them and say "I can do it" waste another book or two. What im saying is that I could walk in for two hours every morning, program it, and have it generating more revenue than now. Heck I could program it from my home office.
Many people have come and gone from WNDR and 95x more than 3 times. You dont know what that means neither hahaha. It would be interesting to see if they are smart enough to invite me to lunch.

-Enjoy

Contact me by searching WNDR on Facebook and join the Radio Club. I read that more often than [email protected]
The Mercruiser is all set for summer live broadcasts from the Beach.

OK Owner now you have me totally confused. According to the Wiki page (which I went back & reread) 95X was put on the air by Craig Fox -which I knew. At the time it was the Syracuse alternative to WOUR which was getting good numbers in 'Cuse in the 70's. Made sense. I thought, and rechecked, on the WIKI page the station is now owned by Cumulus-formally Citadel. So what is the connection to Ed. Levine & Galaxy?
That all being said, you are right, 95x is far from experiencing their past successes. Another example of big corporate destroying a once dominate and great sounding station.

Levine was there when Craig Fox owned it, as the program director Jim. This old ear thinks that not only are we talking about the typical corporate stupidity, but I wouldnt doubt that Levine has some kind of influence. How? Who the heck knows but one thing we can all be sure is that Levine is a cunning snake. The patriots coach gets the playbook on opposing teams somehow.
95x has been running on 2 or 3 bits of information for a long time. The transition from Stern should have been so much smarter.

If you want to go line to line, start with the first one. THE FIRST LINE..........

WAQX-FM (95.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an active rock format.

Active Rock is KROCK. Heritage Classic rock 95x's first line puts the listener in the mood for KROCK. The programmers at 101 call the format differant things but KROCK is the heritage NEW rock station. I only re-read that line, and its like Levine wrote it. Follow? Should I jump from the top of the Galaxy in front of Gomez with an open mic?

Owner ,I really don't think Ed levine has anything to do with WAQX. As stated above it is owned by Cumulus, a company not known for co-operating with their competitors. Last I knew, Tom Mitchell is still the O. M. for Cumulus Syracuse. Trust me, he wouldn't let Ed in the door.
Ed Levine does have quite the reputation. I have met him a couple times. He seemed ok to me. Although I know people that have worked for him that wouldn't agree with me. He rules with an iron thumb. Radio is an industry that you would think that would breed creativity. Like many radio station owners I have worked for (never worked for Galaxy) he accepts creativity as long as you do your creativity exactly the way he tells you to. Otherwise you will be out the door. But on the other hand, you can't argue with success. He owns a bunch of radio stations. You & I don't.

I will. Make it Utica Club. Can't get it here.
Isn't it nice to be civil?

Most of the time it is nothing but 1/2 naked broads and party around here. Life is good. 95x has a decent Classic Rock heritage and I am a listener for 30 years. Its difficult to watch a stupid dog continue to eat its own crap. Then, I know how to solve the problem which makes me more angry about it I guess.

Factory fresh Utica Club it is. Maybe my biggest fan "Biggus" can mail you some.

get a room you two

See that's what I'm talking about!.. Let's get some interaction going on this board. It's gotten so bland & boring.
