How do I enter a stream URL in Vista player

I'm used to brining up the media player in most of the previous Windows programs then clicking the upper left hand "file" for the uRL and adding it to listen to a particular audio stream. Can you do this with Vista's player and if so how? I can't find a place to add the HTTP url

Try pressing ALT-F. That should bring up a menu with the "Open URL" selection.

Yup, did the trick thanks,,,,BTW I just found it hidden in the logo up top too,,,sneaky arn't they?

One of the most annoying things about the Redmond Wizards is their tendency to relocate various commonly used utility functions in new versions of their products. Adding new functions is ok, though many of them I'll never use, but leave tha access to what was there in the same place with the same familiar icons and links.

One of the many things I liked about XP was the ability to change the control panel desktop view to appear pretty much as it had in Windows 2K and 98 or NT. Unfortunately in Vista, and I have to presume Windows 7, they fell away from convention and I am forever being aggravated.

That's an easy one to fix. Right-click on the desktop, choose Personalize and then under Themes choose "Windows Classic". That familiar desktop will be back in a jiffy.

One other thing to keep in mind: While things on the GUI will change in most cases the keyboard shortcuts don't. So if you can't find something try using the keyboard instead. That's how I discovered the ALT-F remedy posted above.
