I was wondering, does Arbitron or any other company do ratings periods for Satellite radio? And how do they do it?

The satellite services are covered by Arbitron, but it is channel specific. In other words, you have to write each channel you listen to in the Arbitron diary, and each channel has to meet the minimum reporting requirement, etc. to show up in the ratings. So, just saying "Sirius" or "XM" won't cut it. No satellite channel has shown up yet, and the satellite services really don't care. Arbitron is a sales tool more than anything else and is pretty well irrelevant when you don't sell your airtime. Their own subscriber data tells them how well they're doing.

Howard Stern says there are No Ratings. Nothing to worry about. Satellite Radio goes by Subscriber base. At this time they really arn't measuring audience on specific channels. Just total subscribers.
