How do you send out music metadata when doing a live show?

The more I look for answers, the less information I find! We're starting a campus radio station that (eventually) will have an on-line streaming component. Since there is a requirement "to display the artist, song title and album (if any), for each song if your station is webcasting copyrighted music", how does one handle this when the show is live and the source is a vinyl disc, cassette, wire recording, 78 rpm record, 8-track, etc.? I can see how if you're running a playlist or automation, the computer sends out the proper tags, but how'd you do this when there's a real human doing it the old fashioned way?

I'm streaming through Live365. There is a "playlist updater" feature that allows you to manually enter this information in real-time as the show airs. It has fields for artist, title, and album.

It's rather tedius, especially at first. I'm able to do a weekday morning show, send the info manually, and really not have to think about it that much these days.

Thanks, Alan!

When I asked a Live365 rep the same question, she said, "There's third-party software you can get to do that." Glad to know it's part of their overall package. Wonder if other all-in-one streaming/licensing folks do the same thing.

Again,
Thanks!
