How does a station not get listed in ratings?

I'll keep this generic to keep in accordance with the rules of the board.
I was looking at a particular website that displays ratings of radio stations
in this market, and noticed that one station in particular, which I will not
name, was not listed. Under my assumption that all stations were listed, how
does this happen?

Less than a 0.3 will keep you off the list, typically. One major radio site only lists the stations with 1.0 and above.
______________

A station will only show up in the ratings if it gets marked by enough diary holders to warrant a rating. There are several local stations in the outlying areas of the metro that may have a localized concentration of listeners, but it's not enough to show up market-wide, so they are not included in the numbers you see. Conversely, sometimes out of market signals, say from Orlando, may get enough diary mentions to show up in the Tampa Bay metro. That's not really their target, but Arbitron just reports the info they collect.

I remember back in the mid 60's when stations like WLS, WCFL, CKLW, WABC KOMA WKBW and many others would show up in dozens of books. CKLW in Windsor/Detroit was a top performer in Cleveland, Toledo and other places regularly. I can still sing that WCFL jingle in my head.....

Also, the non-commercial band, from 88.1 to 91.9, is not rated.
______________

It is rated, but not published in the press releases of 12+ or the printed book or the Arbitrends software. All the data is in Maximiser, the software system for ratings viewing. Satellite is rated, too (it just does not have much audience). Arbitron could not get share data if it did not rate every single radio station.

Non-comm ratings are at www.rrconline.org

CKLW

Very true. They also, at times, showed up in the Lansing, Flint, Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne Arbitron ratings.

In fact, in Cleveland and Toledo, CKLW came in like a local station, day and night. Thanks to the looser technical constraints (at the time), they'd modulate hotter n' hell and just smoke out of the dial, especially in downtown Detroit. When they went stereo, it sounded almost as good as FM.
