How does KFWB still run a local newscast when the books is at .7?

I know KFWB had recently changed owners from CBS to KFWB trust.
I know Bob McCormick still has a talk show on 980 even though he is still contracted by CBS to appear on 1070. The schedule is framed the way KGO use to be before December 2011 News during the drive hours and talk on the non-drive hours. But KFWB does not have Local talk like KGO does.
Didn't KFWB have higher ratings in all-news than KNX when they competed against each other before the CBS/Westinghouse merger. I know KFWB model themselves after WINS and KNX model themselves after WCBS and KCBS for their all news format.

OK I just heard that KFWB airs the Clippers thats how they stay in business.

They not really a separate operational entity as they are in a shared facility. They are in a trust, but are still staffed the same way they were before being put into that trust. It would not make sense for CBS to spend even more money to separate KFWB from the rest of the cluster. Local talk programming would cost even more cash, so syndicated makes sense. Were CBS to actually sell the station it would most likely be up to the new owners to create new facilities. They are using the old KGO model as far as how their blocks of programing are scheduled. Yes, KFWB's numbers declined when both came under the same ownership, but KNX's were dropping as well. It would seem to be that Los Angeles does not have enough audience to support two all news outlets the way New York and many other cities do. Since KFWB's format change KNX's numbers have risen. Taking the in house competition away seems to have worked well for 1070 as both stations were in trouble ratings wise before the changes at 980.I believe that the trust may have something to do with payroll, I'm sure David Eduardo will have more on this and I look forward to hearing what he says...

They don't seem to have any leadership at KFWB. Good shows disappear and the syndicated crap is just that. Bob McCormick is impossible to listen to and Les Brown, while not my cup of tea, was at least trying to get an audience, but, as always, KFWB couldn't wait to let it grow and they let him go. The weekends are horrible as they are getting back to infomerical land. A .7 is a miracle if you ask me. I'd bet their 65+ numbers are like a .6 and the other .1 is 64 and under.

I think McCormick's show "Money 101" isn't too bad compared to the rest of the schedule. I have heard him and some of his professional guests dispense some good advice on the show, albeit the type of good advice one doesn't need to pay for.

I think it was last month when I heard them do a relatively deep dive (by radio standards) into the forecosure/short sale process and the various alternatives in that area. While it is not particularly relevant to me, I suspect there were many people who were hanging on every word of the discussion and I'm sure it helped many of them. In other cases, it has reminded me from time to time of the old KMNY "Money Radio" 1600. That's a compliment.
