Dialing up is so old school. You would think they would at least get a simple web stream.

A lot of stadiums still don't have web access available, so that leaves you with using a cellphone carrier, such as Sprint, AT&T or Verizon. That usually works fairly well, but isn't 100% reliable, especially in rural communities.

The most significant reason for using dial up is because the sponsors don't seem to care and the hard core fans will listen to it despite the way it sounds. There isn't much financial incentive for the station to change to streaming. It will cost them more to do, but they probably won't make more money by doing it.

Football, especially in Texas, is sacred. There are people who will sponsor these broadcasts, just to be seen as a supporter of the home team. They generally don't care what it costs (within reason) and aren't even concerned about the copy used in their spots. For many small stations, local sports is a huge money-maker.

The Longhorns are fed via the Texas State Network. However TSN is NOT on the AMC 8 satellite, so it is possible they are getting it from somewhere else. The "Radio Neighborhood" is on AMC-8. TSN is elsewhere (I forget where.) I know it's our "Other" dish. If you only had one dish, You most likely NOT get TSN.

Couldn't they just get a stream off the Internet? or are they to far out to get high speed?
