How does la luz sound?

Well its been a few weeks since Liberman made the change and created La Luz 104.9 im wondering what do you guys think about it so far? does it have commercials?

La Luz is gone. It now sounds like 700 or 1540 - some kind of Indian or Pakistani programming, I think.

Re: 1540'S GONE NOW

Just some stunting now with a repeating message to tune to 104.9 for something called "Salami and Mustard" with digital sound.

But hold the curry, please.

KTCY 104.9 Goes Indian (was La Luz)

KTCY 104.9 is currently running a hybrid English/Indian-Pakistani language format. There were DJs on the air this morning playing Indian music while speaking mostly English with both DJ's switching to (Urdu?: What ever the name of the Indian dilect they were using) at random.

It seems likely that the airtime on the station has been purchased from Lieberman Broadcasting. I did not hear an ID moniker this morning, but the station's phone number (972-401-1049) was listed to a residence when I typed it into Google.

I think the format could just be called brokered ethnic... Yesterday afternoon, they had Muslim programming mostly in what sounded to be Arabic. They kept referencing the Koran, the Super 8 and this webiste http://www.taibacenter.com/ (which indeed appears to be some sort of religious organization that has services at a local Super 8). LBI leases out several of their stations in other markets. They seem to program their radio and TV stations on the cheap.

To me, they overpaid for the Entravision cluster. To get any sort of return on that investment, I guess they're going to rely on paid programming, infomercials, and cheap programming...

Yup, probably about the last option for any success on the 1540 frequency, which has seen a dizzying parade of calls and formats over the past few decades. If you can't make money with brokered ethnic, it's time to pull the plug and turn in the license.

Such as KSEV 700 and KJOJ 880 in Houston, which are conservative talk (KVCE sibling) and Vietnamese, respectively.
