How does one get a job in San Antonio or Austin Radio!?

I am new to the area and have almost 4 years of radio experience...however, it seems impossible for me to continue in radio?! ??? :-\ Anyone know of any good radio job sites, (besides allaccess)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

San Antonio is pretty much a minimum wage town, however ..there are many opportunities outside of radio you may want to explore(depending on your education-experience) Part time radio jobs do exist in SA. Doesn't have to be posted on the internet. Call up the Big 3 CC/Cox/BMP. To have a part time gig in a Top 30 market is something to be thankful for.

Thanks!! I will try those!

I have lots of other skills, but feel that since I have been in radio for almost 4 yrs. people dont think I can do anything else but sit on my rear and talk!!? (well, I am pretty good at that!!)

I still have my radio bug...I was going to try out for the JB & Sandy Show in Austin, but get mixed reviews...since their "contest" has been going on FOREVER...makes me wonder if they are just trying to build TSL or CUME?? Im starting to wonder if they are really looking for anybody at all???
??? :-[

Looking for part time? My advice, stay where you are. You will make more cash. Certainly if you are aging. It almost makes it not even worth the bull for what part timers are paid for. You dont wanna become one of those has-beens who replay their old radio days throwdown in a feeble attempt to hang onto the past. Or hanging around the radio boards well after they have supposively moved on. Let it go my friend. If you can get in somewhere that is really cool, if not you shouldnt waste too much time on it.

Just my 2 Cents

Don't give up, 'bound'. Try a part time gig... I'm sure you'll find one.
Or try sales.
Or, here's my best idea: do your own thing. Create your own program. Line up sponsors and offer it for barter. Or just buy the airtime yourself. It's basic radio: find a group and serve them. I can't tell you what the group is, but there is bound to be an under-served community of interest. Own it. Don't work for the man; don't get laid off everytime Wall Street demands more from the radio group.

Mind on radio 24/7

That's OK for you to have your mind on the radio 24/7...

Everyone else should forget it and leave the scraps for you---?

Ha Ha

Get this straight-I am not on air in South Texas.
I did not go off the air because I pissed off a PD nor because I was not able to get the job done.
The situation I want is not in this market, not the money, not the format, not the overall relationship.
If you think that only people who can kick ass on the air- are left- you are insulting everyone that has gone off air (That is a lot of people), I apologize for any misunderstanding, I left the air in SA but I did not leave radio as a whole. If I misrepresented this previously - I apologize.
I don't know who you are or what you do, and yet I am willing to accept that you are a radio pro on some level.

I am not looking to do VT in AZ. (PD-Mornings-Afternoon).
I am not on the air in SA- but still involved with broadcasting on a National Level. (not has been-not gone)
I am not hanging on to my past, but keeping on eye on our future. WIFI is coming...WIFI remotes (no more need for promotions crews), etc...

Hey David Eduardo...
I understand your thoughts more fully now...I can not fully agree that radio is all about the numbers nor all black and white. I respect the fact that you use all the tools that are available to you.
I just have a passion for the heart and soul of radio-the music, the listeners etc...YOU are more from the biz side and
you have reminded me of a few things...

Thanks...

The Best To all.
