I'm looking for archives of a lot of old shows (I've got dozens of different ones), including WMAQ, WENR (those were in Chicago), WLS, WGN (the last one especially), KHJ Los Angeles, ABC net, and more. Most of the shows I'm looking for were in the thirties and fourties--in fact, I think all of them were. Do any of you know how I could go about finding and acquiring archives of these shows? I'm' pretty new to radio.

As for your quest, consider trying this site:
http://www.archive.org
Upon doing this, scroll down a little to "audio", then click "browse". Categories will be in alphabetical order, and you can scroll down to the "Os", and find many listings under "Old Time Radio".

...you may want to check the Western Swing on 78 blog as well. It's mainly Western Swing and early Country music on commercially-issued 78s that haven't been reissued on CD or, in a lot of cases, even LP. But they do have a batch of radio shows as well, especially from Cliffie Stone, the first major Country & Western disc jockey on Los Angeles radio and later an executive for Capitol Records (it was Cliffie who brought Tennessee Ernie Ford, Merle Travis and Stan Freberg onto the label in the '40s and '50s.
