How does Pete Falconi pick the hits on Oldies 103?

It seems the new adds come in waves. There's a particularly good selection of music currently airing on Oldies 103.3 How do they choose what songs they are going to add? Anyone know?

Kudos to WZLX for adding more Hendrix music after the Billy Cox jam. Billy said the event was packed when we chatted the next day (He's a close friend of Bobby Hebb's; in fact, Billy knew Bobby Hebb before he met Jimi). More Hendrix, Carter. The more Hendrix the better!

And thanks to Bob Bittner for the very eclectic blend of music on AM 740.
It's sounding great.

Maybe they just did a music test. There is always a reason
stations play what they play. Its never random. Unless the station
is being sold or its April Fools Day....Going to ZLX now. They've added
a few tunes to the playlist. But when I heard Kenny Young play 'Stranglehold' by Ted Nugent at 10pm tonite. I could not believe what I was hearing! He made no indication of the song being a request. Still it was good! ZLX opens up the playlist more on weekends thats a plus! The Time will come. And the playlist will need to grow. And the day-parting of songs will have to be reconsidered.

That's why WZLX has been successful for 20+ years...by keeping the playlist fresh. Your core list will be pretty constant, but the "C" rotation stuff will go in & out. Growing the playlist is not the solution...it's managing a tight list so it appears to be deeper than it really is. I don't know what (if any) dayparting WZLX uses...maybe keeping the heavier stuff out of mid-days & long songs out of drivetime & rocking a little harder at night?
