How does the Energy Plan affect Radio?

With the passage of the Bush Administration's Energy Plan, which includes extending daylight savings by 3 weeks in the spring, and one week in the fall... will daytime/nightime signals run in to any problems? Will anyone complain about having to "power up" a little bit later 4 weeks out of the year? Obviously the daytimers will like it.

Not neccesarily..it will keep many of them on pre-sunrise power or off the air in morning drive later. The evening hours are less important. I believe sunrise/sunset where I live is 6:45am-6:45pm in March, that will make it 7:45am/7:45pm. In 1975 the government experimented with year-round daytlight time, making sunrise in January 9am. Many schools compensated by opening later...and daytime AM stations did howl! (You can find CKLW airchecks from that time when Canada didn't make that change..5:00 in Windsor, 6:00 in Detroit). <P ID="signature">______________

Good point. Yesterday national talker BRUCE WILLIAMS was talking about this subject. The daytime AMers make more $$$$ in AM DRIVE. This will hurt them.

BTW...you can listen to BRUCE WILLIAMS live and via podcast at LIFESTYLE TALK RADIO NETWORK.

Using Kalamazoo MI as an example, sign-on/power up
on EDT in March would be 0800, in November 0830.
