How does the WCRB sale affect Entercom?

Now that WCRB is out of the mix for a possible Entercom sports FM station, what's left for them to do?

Entercom owns 2-1/2 FMs in the market (counting the Class A simulcast as 1/2). Since, under current financial conditions, they are unlikely to be able to buy an FM and nobody has indicated that another owner would be willing to LMA one of their FMs to Entercom, doesn't it seem as if Entercom is going to have to flip one (or 1-1/2) of its FM signals to sports talk or give up the idea of running ESPN on WEEI (AM)? There don't seem to be other possible scenarios. Are there any?

Entercom is in a sticky situation right now, I'm not sure what they will do. They could do anything. I can't picture them taking WAAF down for WEEI on FM, I think Mike would be first to go and 93.7 would be the best WEEI FM frequency.

It's a really tough call... one only Entercom can make. We don't know how Mike is billing, we know (for the most part) it's low overhead since they are jockless, but would moving Mike to 97.7 and WEEI-FM to 93.7 be worth it?

How much does WKAF help WAAF?

A sticky situation indeed...

WAAF 107.3 would be a good frequency to put WEEI on. 850's signal has a hard time going west at night, and WAAF's signal is good to the west.

Yeah, but the 107.3 signal is bad to the east, like... Boston! It's also bad down here on the south shore. Maybe if they moved back to Paxton, but we've gone over that enough... Even then it wouldn't put enough signal over the immediate Boston area, where most of their listeners are. My vote, stay put on 850!

As I've said before WMKK would be best--covers a fairly good area (and for those to the south there's 103.7 or
poss. 97.7) and yes trying to pick the Sox up at my workplace in N. Reading is a challenge (got moved to an area of bldg where even using a mini FM transmitter to relay 850 signal is just about impossible). 104.9? Spotty at best
(a weak signal). But 93.7 would be great--and for many others in the area who are in a spot where 850 can't
come in well.. at least in terms of Sox games.

>>stay put on 850!
or do 850 AND 93.7

One thing I can do is set a radio up in a spot of my post office sorting center and record the Sox on cass.
then listen to it later. I'd like to hear them live, though.
