How does this relate to radio?

Just reemphasizes that radio is going to have to give people something they can't get on their own. Whether it be news, sports, weather, information or entertainment, stations are going to HAVE to figure out how to connect to listeners.

And as the younger generation gets older, it's going to be a bigger problem. They're used to hearing what they want to hear. And they're not going to want to listensomebody else picks of " soft relaxing light rock" or "the best mix of the 80's 90's and today".

This is rare ,I agree with Little One. Radio over all is not appealing. The NEWS is not really NEWS, is "infotainment' at its worst.Sports is more of grunts and graons, and a few scores, with new slang invented. The Music is the biggest challenge and hurdle. If you have a favorite song, would you want to hear it every 97 minutes in a 8 hour period? It suddenly drops from your favorites list. The Talent is the saving grace ,if they have talent and are allowed to use it. So many "Once Greats" are just that, because they are curtailed so there is more time for sales. Radio should study its past and find itself once more and see what worked then and how it can be adapted to today to work once more. Until then, the listeners are going to continue to drop,as beter ipods and the like come onto the market,no matter how many stations go HD.

I think Mark should just stick with Basketball.

A majority of today’s music is so trashed that it isn’t worth buying. The lyrics sound like a bunch of unrelated sentences rammed together, and as a result the music has no life. Who wants to pay almost $30 bucks for that, let alone download it at $5 a pop? The music industry and the radio industry have one priority only, the bottom line.

So true Robert, but it goes back to "assembly line homoginized radio" you hear everyday. Turn it out quick ,make some money, and go to the next victim. Just look, how many new artists today last. Not many and even then the average is 3 years! The true test of an artist is, Does their music hold up, years after it was a hit? Very few from the 80,s. A good number from the 70's( if you eliminate the disco) and a good representation from the 60's. The 90's,very little.

as if that isn't bad enough... most of the ones that could qualify from the 90s are friggin REMAKES. Thank God for American Idol and Rockstar SuperNova, huh? ;D

Well I have to disagree with you about the 80's. ;D There's plenty of music from that decade which is still airplay worthy today, at least through 1986 or so. But you knew i was going to say this. ;) I do agree the 90's is where things really start going downhill.
