How EI programming will be affected by Tribune's acquisition of This TV

Here's an idea: Since Tribune owns Antenna TV AND coming this fall half of This TV, why not have Cookie Jar TV air on Antenna TV? Makes sense since CBS is ditching it...

Whose to say that CJTV will continue on This under Tribune management though? They lost CBS mainly because of loss of interest and no new projects in the pipeline for them, and they were probably happy to end the deal because Netflix and Nickelodeon's foot-shooting removal of their programming there makes it easy for them to put their shows there and build their popularity without the 'E/I ghetto' label. Also, all of the Local TV and Tribune stations have contracts with other providers such as Trifecta, Entertainment Studios and Telco for E/I programming that just can't be nullified because Tribune got another provider.

On top of that, it won't be affected at all. If anything, Tribune will just simply add it to their growing list of providers

Cheers & 73 :)

THIS TV should be able to air 3 hours of classic cartoons since they do air other classics like the outer limits, sea hunt, green acres, and mr. ed. Why not air cartoons like Muppet Babies, Dennis The Menace, Merrie Melodies, Fraggle Rock, Jem, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Rambo, The Real Ghostbusters, Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, C.O.P.S., The Woody Woodpecker Show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987), James Bond Jr., Beetlejuice, Dick Tracy, Police Acadamy, Beverly Hills Teens, He-Man, Thundercats, Ducktales, Chip N Dales Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers, Aladdin, Gargoyles. Just a thought to air classic stuff then garbage on tv.

Starting November 1st This TV will be replacing Cookie Jar Toons with airing 3 hours of syndicated E/I proramming. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...604220.-2207520000.1379548687.&type=3&theater

Well I guess the OP's argument for Cookie Jar on Antenna is gone since Tribune won't even get into business with them...

But looking at that, four hours of In the Heat of the Night on Sundays? It's enough that outdated series prevents all of us from seeing the entire WGN Midday newscast on WGN America, but four hours on Sundays? I really hope the affiliates take This at their word and add alternate programming there. I'm surprised they didn't rename the channel "WGN America 2" if they're just throwing the shows that make WGNA useless during weekdays onto This.

Back on topic though, Animal Atlas, On the Spot and Zoo Clues pretty much say 'we give up', and definitely won't have any kids tuning in there, and I assume This is for Kids will be gone on weekdays too.

This TV has been very good as primarily a movie station. If MGM no longer has ownership, I guess the favorable access to that library is gone as well. A shame if the focus changes from being primarily a movie station. There are more than enough outlets airing syndicated content.

Right. The FCC requires all full power and Class A stations to air a minimum of 3 hours a week of E/I programming, between the hours of 7A-10P. Each show must be a minimum of 30 minutes in length. This rule applies not only to a station's main channel but extends to all sub-channels as well. Since This TV is on a lot of station's .2 channels, the network will have to air a minimum of 3 hours of E/I programming per week as well.

Yes, I know that. Maybe I didn't word that right. Anyways right now This TV airs E/I programming, to meet the FCC requirements, as well as non-E/I programming from DHX Media/Cookie Jar as part of the Cookie Jar Toons/This is for Kids block; however, after November 1st they will just air 3 hours of syndicated E/I programming.
