How Good Is The AM1C Transmitter Kit?

Hi,
I was wondering how good is the AM1C Transmitter before I buy this kit?
The reason why I am asking this is, because I've want to start my own
Part-15 radio station and I am a person who is on a budget, and I can't
afford those high-end ready made transmitters that I've seen on other
websites.

I had just brought a 102" inch whip antenna from Radio Shack I was going
to hook it up to a AM1C Transmitter Kit so I can get a full legal qutarter of
a mile at 100 milliwatts, which is 2 city blocks in Chicago.

I was planning to broadcast on 1650 KHz on the AM Dial, to achieve further
range and coverage.

Please give me a response.

Thank you very much
Bob

You will be much happier with a PLL synthesised transmitter. For the money, you can't beat the SSTRAN AMT3000 which is available as a kit. Check out their site for more info about the kit and antenna options.

Yea Id Defiantly recommend the SSTRAN. Awesome Kick a** sound quality.
Just dont Short it out between T1 and L8 :-[
But I got Great Range out of the WIRE antenna BY putting it out side.
About 1/4 of a mile or so
turns out it was never even running at full Power [the lake probably helped its range a bit.]
So the SSTRAN will be the best bet.

I'm going to be trying to help Bob set up his pt 15 and have been SO happy with the long-term stability of my
tube transmitter that I'm wondering if he ought to try this:

It needs a crystal, but could be fed by a VFO I bet.
Does anyone know if this transmitter is any good?
I find tubes are far less fussy about coupling into antennas, and if not matched to the antenna, they do NOT smoke the output stage
at such low powers.
Heck, I'm interested in one as a backup transmitter.

I also see no price listed.

Can you really get several blocks off of a 102" CB antenna, or do you need to have a groundplane and such set up also?
