How Have O&A Been Doing Lately?

It's been roughly seven months since 92.3 switched to "Now FM", I wonder how the former "K-Rock" morning hosts have been faring without any terrestrial radio listeners.
 
I'm a fan. I listen to one or two shows a week. IMO the show was at its best when they were syndicated by CBS(2006) and were on in several major markets. Ever since they lost their affiliates one by one the show han been going downhill. The show is still pretty good on XM but there's no enthusiasm and no confidence there.
 
This thread went over about as well as O&A do now. NOBODY cares!

Or I should say their audience of John Benders care. But they could disappear forever and it wouldn't make any difference. They might as well not even exist.

Their return to FM was halfassed at best.

Yepp they knew this themselves aswell when K-Rock dumped them. They will probably never be big players again.

It only takes ONE person in a very high place to dump O&A. That would be DAN MASON
 
Who? Anyway they have been doing their jocktober bit this month where they make fun of awful radio jocks...a lot of fun. One of greatest bits in radio IMO.

I remember last year they made fun of "The Peoples' Morning Show with Nipsey, Earl, and Jen Shade" on WQXA in York/Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
 
The best thing that ever happened to them was Howard Stern putting a gag order on them. It gave them sympathy from listeners, and it got people to listen to them thinking that they were going to respond to something Howard had said.
 
Using radio message board members as fodder for their schtick is nothing new for Opie & Anthony. During their original local show on WNEW-FM, Allan Sniffen's New York radio board was usually ground zero for material.

True, plus they were local. I doubt Philadelphia listeners wouldn't get the Dentist schtick.

I think that's a double negative. Regardless, I listened to a handful of the youtube
Jocktober breaks and they're awful. They're exactly why O&A suck now. It's 10 minutes
of inside jokes, 2 mins of the actual bit and 5 more mins of inside stuff.

Back in the day if they wanted to get sidetracked with Jim Brewer or Mario Cantone
or any of the other great comics that would be up there it was awesome. And they got
sidetracked and off topic a lot.

Now it's trainwreck radio at it's worst. It's ironic with the Jocktober stuff, because
O&A THINK they are the coolest radio show in the world and incapable of producing
bad radio.

If you're going to do that bit, DO THAT BIT, don't spend 75% of the time making fun of
the guy that put the clips together!

I agree. One of the flaws of the show is that O&A lack that care for the listener that for example someone like Art Bell has. Sometimes the show is done more for the crew than for the listener. It's hard to understand what's going on.

I'm not sure if things were better on WNEW. To be honest I can't remember much of the WNEW days. It's been 7 years.
